Fairy Footprints

Providing memory boxes for bereaved parents in the Republic of Ireland

Meet The Team

Lynda

Hi everyone my name is Lynda Redmond. I am one of the co-founders and directors of Fairy Footprints. I live in the very picturesque Graiguenamanagh Co. Kilkenny. I live with my husband David and our three children Killian, Anna and Brody. Fairy Footprints holds a very special place in my heart as it was set up in memory of my daughter Róisín .

Róisín was born on the 8th of February 2012 and stole our hearts from that moment. She was such a fun loving and vibrant little girl. Life was never dull when she was around. She had a special and unique way about her. She loved singing and dancing and every day was an adventure. In December 2014 Róisín passed away after a tragic accident , she was only 2 years and 10 months old. Fairy Footprints is such a beautiful way to keep her memory alive and along the way to help and support other families.

Carol

My name is Carol Gorey. I live in Danesfort Co Kilkenny with my husband John and 3 year old daughter Robyn. I also work full time in a pharmacy in Kilkenny City.

I am a director and co – founder of Fairy Footprints which was set up in memory of my daughter Holly Gorey and also my god daughter Róisín Redmond

My daughter Holly was born in September 2008 with a congenital heart defect and this lead to long periods being spent in Our Lady Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. At the age of 2 Holly received a heart transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.

Enable Ireland in Kilkenny became our next step in Holly’s care which helped her to lead happy and full life. She was the strongest, bravest ,most amazing little girl who brought a smile everyone’s face and lead such a joyful life. Holly passed away in February 2014 due to rejection of her new heart.

When you lose a child memories become so precious. Fairy Footprints has been created by us to help parents cherish these memories and to provide some comfort to parents and families at these difficult times.

Amanda

Hi everyone my name is Amanda Gorey. I live in Burnchurch, Cuffesgrange, Co. Kilkenny with my husband and 2 year old daughter Ada and our fur baby Penny. I am Carol’s sister ( co-founder of Fairy Footprints) and forever ” Auntie Min” to the late Holly Gorey. I work as a Legal Secretary.

Fairy Footprints is a very special charity to me. It is all about keeping memories of loved ones alive and the memories me and my family share of Holly are treasured forever. Short lives have great meanings and Fairy Footprints hopes that it can help families who suffer this unbearable loss to hold onto and treasure those memories forever and that these memories provide some sort of comfort to them when they need it the most.

Therésé

Hi my name is Therésé Delaney Ryan and I am Lynda’s sister.

I am a secondary school teacher and I live in south Kilkenny with my husband and my two little girls.

Fairy Footprints holds a special place in my heart because it gave our families something to focus on during a very challenging time. The loss of a child is so unnatural and it is very difficult when you are in the very early stages of grief to think about preserving memories of the little one. We hope that the items in the box encourage families to keep tangible memories of their child and that the boxes provide some small comfort to those who receive them.

Peter

Hi all, I am Peter Madden and I am a very proud member of the Fairy Footprints family. I have been friends with its founders Lynda and Carol for many years and I was humbled and honoured when they asked me to come aboard.

I live in the historic village of Gowran in Co. Kilkenny. I am a primary school teacher and principal of a rural school in the locality.

When not in the classroom or on the charity fundraising trail, I love the theatre. I have been involved in amateur drama since my early teens and have been proud to compete in drama festivals around the country.

Fairy Footprints was born out of the most tragic of circumstances. I have watched it grow as an idea from a grief filled conversation at a kitchen table to a nationwide charity that brings some light and hope to families in the darkest of times. It is truly a privilege to play some small part in the charity’s growth and development.

Miriam

Hi my name is Miriam and I am originally from Kilkenny city. I now enjoy country life with my husband and two children. I work in a busy office Monday to Friday. I enjoy sideline life and spend most of my free time on the hurling field where I help out with the local U11 hurling team. I also enjoy sport, country music, jiving and line dancing.

I have known both Carol and Lynda for several years. I met Carol by chance when I covered Carol’s maternity leave when Holly was born. When we met we just clicked and became very good friends. I worked across the road from  where Lynda was workin in Kilkenny. We were both pregnant at the same time and we used to meet in the mornings before work for coffee and a chat .

I am honoured to be a part of the Fairy Footprint’s team.
